Hey! Ho! I Owe You Everything

When Joey Ramone died in 2001, it felt like the entire punk scene took a punch to the gut. That same week, Blockage was asked to contribute a track to Life’s A Gas: A Tribute to Joey Ramone, a compilation from Amp Records.

We wrote and recorded the song in 7 days, tapping straight into the raw emotions of Joey’s passing. We recorded the song at Danny Walker from WANK's house in his baby nursery. It was a good representation of Blockage at that time - finding our own voice but still leaning heavily on our influences. The song quickly became a crowd favorite at our shows—raw, fast, and unapologetically Ramones-y.

Now, 24 years later, we’ve brought the song back with a vengeance. Re-recorded with the East Coast lineup, the updated version is louder, tighter, and catchier than ever. The single released on Joey's birthday, 5/19/25.

Wrapped in refreshed cover art by renowned punk illustrator Darren Merinuk, who drew the original cover this, track isn’t just a tribute—it’s our love letter to a man (and band) who shaped a genre and inspired a generation. Gabba gabba hey!
